Keeping Fit Doesn’t Have To Be Expensive

If you are not in the habit of doing things to keep fit such as eating healthy and exercising than down the road your decisions will cost you in healthcare dollars and lost time from work as you spend more time at the doctors and less time at work or doing the things you’d rather be doing than having cancer treatments or other medical procedures that are the result of an unhealthy, unfit lifestyle.

If you think you can’t afford to get fit, think again! You don’t need to have a fitness club membership or buy expensive fitness equipment; you can get fit without it costing you an arm and a leg.

Take these inexpensive steps to a fit life and your body will thank you for it.

Believe it or not getting enough sleep can help your body stay fit. Sleep is how your body restores itself and repairs tissue. When your body’s energy doesn’t have to be directed at body movements like it does when you are awake the energy can be directed at functions that repair and restore the body. When we do not give our bodies the rest needed the repair work doesn’t get done and we can start to get sick.

Another simple way to get fit is to give our bodies the nutrition it needs to function properly and to build up our immune system to ward off illnesses. When we don’t eat the right nutritious foods we can help our bodies by taking vitamin and mineral supplements. When the food we eat lacks in the essential vitamins and minerals we may not receive those that aid in fighting certain diseases. Make sure you get the advice of a doctor or nutritionists to be sure that you are getting the right vitamin and mineral supplements and that you are taking the correct dosages. Supplement misuse can harm your body so it is important to be careful about which ones and how much you take.

To keep fit don’t skip breakfast, eat more vegetables and fruits, and cut down on or avoid eating red meat, taking in caffeine into your body and avoid or limit the intake of sugar and salt. When we have poor eating habits such as eating a lot of junk food or processed foods, eating sweets, and loading up on sugary foods and salty snacks we can end up on the road to diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease. It may be difficult to change bad eating habits but think about the alternative, pricking your finger to take blood sugar readings and taking blood pressure pills and running the risk of having a heart attack or stroke.
