Do you want to be a winner at losing weight? Want to know the habits of someone who was successful at losing weight and keeping it off?

There are habits that people have found to be very helpful when it comes to losing weight and they are discussed below:

Habit #1

Know your eating pattern. Do you eat late at night? Are you a grazer? Do you buy processed foods or frequent fast-food restaurants? They are all habits of someone who is gaining weight from the foods they eat.

Habit #2

Learn to be a planner. You have to plan to win at losing weight. If you fail to make a weight loss plan, you plan to fail. You can’t just say you want to lose weight and then continue your old eating and exercise habits you have to make a plan that includes learning new eating behaviors, improving your daily physical activity and make meal plans that include healthy whole foods.

Habit #3

Never, ever shop for food when you are hungry this bad habit will be your downfall every time. Get into the habit of shopping for food from a list and stick to your list when shopping avoids the temptation of filling the cart with extras. This will be easier to do if you are not hungry.

Habit #4

Get into the habit of always eating regular meals at regular times. Don’t skip meals; especially get into the habit of eating a nutritious breakfast. When you eat at regular intervals you are less likely to binge eat.

Habit #5

Get into the habit of sitting at a table for each meal because when you eat out of packages or while standing you have a tendency to forget what you are eating or you eat more than a serving size.

Habit #6

When you are in the habit of serving food on plates at a table you are more likely to eat portion sizes. Leave the extra food on the stove, do not put it on the table or you will be too tempted to eat it. Eat slowly so that your mind has the time to get the signal from your stomach that you are full. Drink plenty of water with your meal to help you get full without taking in too many calories. If you still feel hungry after finishing what is on your plate, excuse yourself and go brush your teeth. Not many people like to eat after brushing.

Habit #7

Make it a habit to think about every morsel of food before you put it into your mouth. Think about the calories you are consuming and think about whether or not what you are about to eat will be nourishing your body or just putting on calories that you will then have to burn off. When you take the time to think about what you are eating you just may find yourself deciding that some foods just are not worth the calories and you would rather use the calorie count on something else.

The individual who becomes a winner at losing weight is the individual who has taken the time to develop healthy eating habits.
